Enter Paul Gilbert

As a musician, I feel we are all influenced and moulded by what we listen to and idolise. This is when your playing starts to have personality and a distinct - unique identity. This post is about my guitar playing personality and identity.

So, one such influence in my life has been none other than the absolutely - fuckin’ amazing - Mr. Paul Gilbert. I feel I resonate with his playing style the most. His attack, dynamic and flow of playing the instrument is something that I feel is closest to my heart and I understand the most.

A lot of my playing influences were solidified because of how much of Paul Gilbert I used to listen to during my early days.

My playing has slowly but gradually deteriorated (I took an 8 year break remember) but I feel that from a phrasing and melody perspective I still got the ‘Paul Gilbert’ in me.

So here’s a fresh funky jam that I feel has bits of Paul in it. At least I hope so.
